Hardy on Prospect Hot List

Rowdy_hardy_2007 Thanks to those of you who sent condolences- if anyone would like more information about our community's loss, see here and here.

In the interest in getting back to some level of normalcy, I'm going to start updating again.

First of all, Baseball America released their newest "Hot List" on Tuesday- a list of the minor league players who are playing well right now (NOT a top prospect list).

One former Valley Leaguer made the list: Rowdy Hardy (Staunton 2004), a lefthanded pitcher in the Kansas City Royals' system.  BA listed Hardy at #14 with the comment: "The 2006 nondrafted free agent has not given up more than one earned run in his eight appearances (four starts) this season and continued that trend last week. In two starts, he went 2-0, 1.20 with 13 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched--lowering his season totals to 3-0, 0.94."

Hardy has been, as an understatement, pitching quite well this season so far.  Since the hot sheet came out, he started another game, giving up only one earned run in 6 innings.  His stats through May 18 are: 4-0, 1.02, with 1 save, a 0.88 WHIP, 5.1 K/9, and 0.8 BB/9.

For Staunton in 2004, Hardy 2-1, 2.93, 1.34 WHIP, 9.7 K/9, and 2.3 BB/9.  I always root for the non-drafted free agents.  Go Rowdy!
