#5 Hitting Season in the Valley: Kurt Davidson
Kurt Davidson was huge for the Waynesboro Generals this summer, and it's not that he's 6-3, 210. While Chris Anninos scored the most runs, Ryan Adams ended the season with the highest batting average, and Pat Irvine had a solid season, Davidson was the rock in the middle of a lineup that outscored its opponents 297-210.
While these numbers might be higher because Waynesboro played more playoff games than any team but Luray, no one can dispute that Kurt had an outstanding year. He finished at 307/373/451 in 215 at-bats, with 36 runs, 66 hits, 14 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, and a whopping 54 RBIs. His BB/K ratio was also solid, at 21/26, and he threw in 5 stolen bases for good measure.
Among the league leaders, Davidson finished 12th in average, 1st in hits, 1st in RBIs, tied for 2nd in doubles, 1st in total bases, tied for 7th in runs scored, and 9th in slugging percentage. There is no question that Davidson was one of the main reasons the Generals came away with the Jim Lineweaver Cup.
Kurt is heading back to Akron for his senior season, after which he hopes to get a shot at pro baseball. Congratulations on the tremendous year, Kurt!

I do agree with Davidson being in the top 5 and he did have a much better season this year than last and the numbers prove it there. Kurt or as the General fans call him "Bear" thanks for the great season. Good luck in Akron in 2008!

In my honest opinion Kurt Davidson should be # 1 hitting in Valley. He had over 100 more at bats than the players on top and played every game of a long hot summer season for a championship team. The players on top are deserving, but he was the Ironman in the league this summer.

Now THERE'S an idea! Top ironmen in the league! And Davidson even played on an injured ankle late in the season... JLL
