#8 Hitting Season in the Valley: Tyler Kuhn
#8: Tyler Kuhn, Luray, from West Virginia
Kuhn has very little left to prove in the Valley. In 2006, he was named MVP of the league after hitting 363/394/561 and helping the Wranglers win the league championship. Baseball America named him the #4 prospect in the league after the '06 campaign.
This year, Tyler had another stellar year, hitting 318/398/447, again helping the Wranglers advance deep into the playoffs. BA also named Tyler to the top 10 prospects list for the second year in a row, at #5 this year. He scored 35 runs, drove in 22, and had a very strong 21/23 BB/K ratio in 170 at-bats. He was also named to the All-League team as a shortstop.
Tyler has also performed exceptionally well in his three years at WVU:
Freshman: 298/345/463 in 205 at-bats
Sophomore: 365/425/504 in 252 at-bats
Junior: 332/407/483 in 211 at-bats
The Cleveland Indians drafted Kuhn in the 33rd round in the June draft, but did not sign him. He will most likely get drafted again in 2008 if he performs at his established level in his senior year.
