#9 Hitting Season in the Valley: Jeremy Cruz
#9: Jeremy Cruz, Luray, from Stetson
Even though Cruz played in only 39 of the Wrangler's 53 games, he displayed one tool consistently: power. Ending with the 5th best slugging percentage in the league, Cruz walloped 6 doubles and 9 home runs in 129 at-bats. He ended with the rates of 271/358/527, adding 22 runs, 31 RBIs, and an 18/36 BB/K ratio. He was an important cog in the Wrangler's lineup, helping the team reach the finals against Waynesboro.
A rising junior at Stetson, Cruz hit 177/250/210 in only 62 at-bats his freshman year, but improved to 328/365/459 in 244 at-bats in 2007, his sophomore year. Don't be surprised if Mr. Cruz has a breakout season in college this year!
