#6 Starting Pitcher: Josh Eidell
Our #6 starting pitcher, Josh Eidell, is a junior at Villanova. Josh was a workhorse for Coach Foltz and the Woodstock RiverBandits this summer, going 5-1, 2.73, with a 0.94 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, 12.0 K/9, and .194 opponent's batting average. He started 9 games, threw 59 1/3 innings, and struck out a whopping 74 batters. Josh finished 6th in the league in innings pitched, 3rd in strikeouts, and 5th in opponent's batting average.
On June 5th, Josh threw one of the best games of the season when he shut out the Haymarket Senators, throwing a complete game and allowing only 3 hits, 0 walks, and striking out 11. Twelve days later he shut out the Senators again, going 8 innings and allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 8. He also did his best to slow down the Waynesboro Generals in the playoffs on August 1st, pitching 8 shutout innings and allowing only 3 hits, 0 walks, and striking out 13.
Josh has pitched quite a bit at 'Nova in his two years in college:
Freshman year: 2-5, 4.83, 1.37 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9, and 5.1 K/9 in 59 2/3 innings
Sophomore year: 3-3, 5.20, 1.59 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9, and 5.8 K/9 in 64 innings
I will be interested in how Josh throws his junior year at Villanova; maybe he can translate his success in the Valley League with wood bats to aluminum bats in college. It could also result in getting drafted....
