Brad Ziegler: Major Leaguer!
While Perez zoomed to the majors, Ziegler's path was a bit more circuitous, as he was drafted in the 20th round in 2003 by the Philadelphia Phillies. The (my) Phils gave Brad a whopping 6 innings for Batavia in the New York-Penn League before they released him. (And he even threw very well: 1-0, 1.50, with a 1.00 WHIP and 9.0 K/9!)
Brad caught on with the independent Schaumburg Flyers in the Northern League. He dominated in his short stint there, going 3-0, 1.50 in 4 starts, with a 0.54 WHIP, 0.4 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 in 24 innings.
The Oakland A's noticed, and signed Ziegler less than three months after the Phillies had released him. Thus Brad began the climb. He pitched in Modesto in the California League in 2004. He started in the Cal League again in 2005 but received a midseason promotion to Double-A Midland. In 2006, he started in Midland, but was promoted to Triple-A Sacramento, and then he had the exact same experience in 2007.
This season, he began the year in Sacramento, going 2-0, 0.37, with 8 saves, a 0.78 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 in 24 1/3 innings before his call-up on May 31.
In the majors, Brad has pitched in only one game so far, getting one out while giving up one hit.
Congratulations, Brad!
My best team of MLB is The Philadelphia Phillies . This why I always fallow their games especially whenever I have some time. I’m always trying not o miss any of their game and hear about the team’s news. But The Philadelphia Phillies tickets get more pricy especially when there are some hot games. But, if we’re really good fans we should try not to be mean when we’re talking about a favourite teams. It’s not only the Phillies tickets that got pricy, but there are other major teams too, so the team needs our support and we should provide as much as we can.
