Baseball America's Top 10 Valley Prospects

Each fall, Baseball America lists the top 10 prospects in each summer league- from the Cape to Alaska.  It's always fascinating to see whom the publication ranks! Most of these names will look familiar to the readers of this blog, and to anyone who followed the league this year...

The list (subscription required):

1. Ryan Schimpf, 2B, Luray (LSU)

2. Alex Wimmers, P, Luray (Ohio State)

3. Jake Cowan, P, Waynesboro (Transfer to Virginia)

4. Adam McClain, INF/OF, Luray (Memphis)

5. Billy Morrison, P, Winchester (Western Michigan)

6. Brandon Sizemore, 2B, Waynesboro (College of Charleston)

7. Travis Smink, P, Luray (VMI)

8. Gabriel Saade, SS, Waynesboro (Duke)

9. Mickey Wiswall, 3B, Winchester (Boston College)

10. Tyler Townsend, 1B, Winchester (Florida International)

Only three Valley League teams placed players on the list: Luray has 4, Waynesboro 3, and Winchester 3.  Interesting, eh? No Marcus Nidiffer, Rico Noel, Drew Johnson, Ryan Gauck.... no relievers at all, either.

Honestly, though, with what I saw this summer, I can't quibble with any of these selections. So- what do you think?

I can't argue about the top 10 wish it was the top 20. I am happy that I can see Cowan alot more this upcoming year at UVA. I can't wait till Duke comes into town to face the Hoos and maybe even the Eagles and Keydets too. If somehow the Cavaliers would bring in the Cougars (Charleston) to face them, that would be icing on the cake.

Valley League fans should try to get tickets for a UVA game this year to see some great Valley Leaguers in action.
