Didn't I tell you, faithful reader, that there would be a few more Front Royal Cardinals on this list? The Cards did not lack for heavy hitters in the middle of their lineup.
Our #11 hitter in the Valley League is the University of Tampa's Jared Simon. Simon was a critical bat for the Cards this summer, as he hit 315/344/560 in 47 games and 200 at-bats. He added 16 doubles, 11 home runs, 36 runs, 34 RBI, and a 5/28 BB/K ratio. He finished first in the league in doubles, second in hits (63), third in home runs, and second in total bases (112).
In what should be no surprise, Jared has also produced for Tampa. As a freshman, he only received 72 at-bats, but hit 319/402/569 in those appearances. He also hit 7 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 home runs.
As a sophomore, Jared hit 387/424/663 in 48 games and 181 at-bats. He scored 42 runs, drove in 53, hit 19 doubles, 2 triples, and 9 home runs. His BB/K ratio was 8/28.
The Cardinals finished the regular season with the best record in the league, and Simon was a big reason for their success!
