The College Baseball Foundation released its honor roll for the week today: two former Valley Leaguers made the list.
Without further ado:
Tyson Auer, Central Florida, OF (Luray 2005, 2006)
CBF wrote: "The junior hit .500 (8-for-16) to help UCF go 3-1 last week. The Golden Knights' leadoff man cranked out three hits against Army and also scored three times. He pounded out three more hits in game one vs. Rutgers, and went on to have at least one hit and one RBI in each game last week. He also stretched his C-USA lead in stolen bases by swiping three to give him 14 on the year. For the week, Auer had 10 total bases, a .625 slugging percentage, two sacrifice flies, and two doubles."
Auer is leading Central Florida in hitting, with a line of .369/.434/.476. He also leads the team with 2 triples and 14 stolen bases. For Luray in 2005, Auer finished at .312/.397/.414 (but struck out 40 times in 157 at-bats). He was also named the #9 prospect in the league by Baseball America in 2005. In 2006, he ht .259/.300/.357 in 112 at-bats (and still struck out 23 times).
Clint Robinson, Troy, 1B (Harrisonburg 2005, 2006)
CBF wrote: "The senior hit three home runs over the weekend as the Trojans swept the No. 29 Florida Atlantic Owls. He had four RBI in the Friday opener, blasted three home runs in three contests, was walked twice intentionally Sunday, scored seven runs, and had seven RBI in the three-game set."
Robinson is hitting .318/.388/.636 for Troy this season. He is leading the team with 7 doubles, 7 home runs, and 24 RBIs. In 2005 with the Turks, he hit .349/.369/.571, and returned the next summer to hit .254/.352/.440 (and was named the league's #10 prospect by Baseball America).
I've previously covered Robinson in this blog here.
